The laid-back hideaway that is Indian Ocean Lodge offers convenience to solo travellers as well as for families seeking an affordable place to stay when on holiday in the Seychelles. This charming and peaceful hotel lies on Grand Anse beach, on the idyllic island of Praslin, northeast of Mahé. Wake up to twittering tropical birds and the rustling of palms outside your ventilated window shades and while enjoying your morning coffee, admire the view of the two sister islets – Cousin and Cousine. If you are looking to explore the surrounding region – deserted beaches, nearby islands, local culture – this quaint lodge is just the place for you.
The hotel guest rooms are furnished with simplicity while offering everything you need, with the extra advantage of stunning views onto tropical gardens, the gorgeous turquoise lagoon and the ocean. Guests are invited to enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner at the Blue Marlin restaurant, which serves a combination of local delicacies and classics from the world over. A pleasant poolside bar offers snacks and refreshments.
From Praslin, voyagers curious about Seselwa culture can easily hop on a boat to one of the nearby islands. Aride is a bird sanctuary, whereas Curieuse is a nature park on which there is an ongoing tortoise conservation project. These untouched isles, brimming with exotic wildlife, constitute the very essence of the Seychelles. Praslin itself is home to the sought-after coco fesse (sea coconut), as well as its fair share of secret coves, acres of dense, luxuriant jungle and deserted dreamy beaches, waiting to be discovered.
The ground floor rooms of Indian Ocean Lodge are ideally situated and equipped for children. A small swimming pool is reserved for small children.
A babysitting service is available on request, for a supplementary fee.
The hotel offers entertainment on certain evenings, depending on the number of guests. A Creole evening is organised on Saturdays with buffet dinner and a show.
