Welcome to Reunion Island, your new holiday destination!

Welcome to Reunion Island, Your New Holiday Destination for exciting bespoke experiences from the islandian.com collection of Indian Ocean vacations.

Two Sisters; Two Perspectives

Explore the sister islands of Reunion and Mauritius for a 10-day Nature Discovery, trekking the mountains, horse-riding on the beach, and tasting delectable culinary delights cultivated from old-time recipes.

Mauritius’ volcanoes are dormant; Reunion has one that is very active: both are accessible by foot, and there are more than a thousand kilometres of trails for hiking, bicycling, or rambling. Go for an exhilarating helicopter ride with views that take your breath away, or grab an electro-bike to visit the coastal villages.

Need a break? You can golf for a change, be pampered in the sanctuary of a spa, or simply relax on the beach sipping rum-laced cocktails – be sure to try a delicious rhum arrangé (macerated with fruit and spices).

In the evening – at your ocean-side hotel – dine on haute cuisine, or spicy curries and chutneys. Then sit back to savour the slow rhythm of the islands.

Up Close & Personal

Positioned on Reunion’s west coast – with direct beach access – LUX* Saint Gilles offers the opportunity to discover this World Heritage island where nature’s wonders are up close and personal.

This resort is perfect for setting off on day trips to the volcano and waterfalls. Visit the market at Saint Paul, and the museums of Saint Leu along the way. Saint Denis is a MUST for all-day shopping, eating and strolling through vibrant colonial streets that rise into overhanging hills.

Water adventures abound on the island, including paragliding, kayaking, and dolphin or scuba diving excursions. Take pleasure in botanical gardens, and sample the rich flavours of tropical fruits, such as the juicy Victoria pineapple, perfumed with Bourbon vanilla – prized victuals cultivated since 1668 and 1841 respectively.

Back at the resort, lounge blissfully by the pool, experience garden yoga, or an in-room massage. Take in a beachside sunset, before dining blissfully under the stars.

From History to Heritage

Islandian also offers a 9-day AutoTour experience around Reunion. Set off in a rented car, to visit charming villages and hamlets with their beautifully maintained mansions and monuments, scattered about the island.

Trek into all 3 naturally-formed mountain arenas; and to the remote volcano, where nearby Ste Anne Church was miraculously spared from rushing lava as it spilled into the sea. Plunge under waterfalls, and a tidal waterway; and watch waves crashing onto the wild southern cliffs.

Marvel at ancient processes of rum and coconut oil distillation, and vanilla propagation. Visit a sugar cane museum, and view artisans at work making lace, weaving baskets from palm, crafting jewellery using choca leaves.

You will be greeted each evening at the most exquisite guest houses and resorts. The delectable Creole-style cooking includes spiced curries, Macatia brioche stuffed with sweet or savoury fillings, and typical French home-cooked meals served at a grand selection of restaurants wherever you go.

What better way to learn about the rich cultural heritage of this French island than on one of these islandian.com experiences – let’s plan your trip together!
