During this event, the only tri-sanctioned golf tournament in the world endorsed by the European, Asian and Sunshine Tours; the world’s top golf professionals will compete on the #1 ranked golf course of the Indian Ocean, for the 1 million Euro prize fund. This competition will be held at Heritage Golf Club on the South coast of Mauritius Island, from 5th to 8th December, 2019.
Recognised as one of the Top 10 golf courses in Africa and claiming the title of “Best golf course in the Indian Ocean” at the World Golf Awards, this award winning course provides an enjoyable yet challenging experience for golfers of all handicap levels. Designed by the architect Peter Matkovitch, this 18-hole championship golf course is perfectly integrated into the beautiful and natural surroundings. The AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open is a 72-hole (4 day) stroke play Championship with 18 holes played each day. The field will comprise 156 professionals with a play that will be in three-balls on the first two days, and in two-balls on the last two days after the cut. The tournament will be in accordance with the Rules of Golf of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews, the PGA Sunshine Tour, European Tour, and Asian Tour Tournament Rules.
During the tournament, each team comprises of three amateurs’ guests and one professional golfer. Professional golfers will tee off from the championship tees and the amateurs off the club markers. A total of at least 40 players from each tour Order of Merit will be reunited. Water points and refreshment stations will be arranged for spectators at the public village on the Heritage Golf Club's parking. On-course big screens and leader boards will also be configured to guide visitors. A VIP parking and a public parking will be available for all attendees.
