End of year escapes to the islands

Come December, lazy summer days will be a distant memory and your days will be filled with last-minute Christmas shopping in cold weather surrounded by frantic crowds. Why let this Christmas frenzy build up like that? Instead, how about booking yourself a well-earned holiday and take a break from the madness?

Of course, high season can mean high prices, and a squeeze on availability. But we have managed to find a few little gems that might still have some rooms available for a break in the sun at the end of year.

Best for couples:

Seychelles is, of course, a prime destination for the romantically inclined. If you are seeking a memorable island view over the ocean, a chic and refined decor, an escape-from-it-all hideaway, or perhaps great food, then discover the acclaimed Banyan tree hotel. The resort is located on the western side of the Island of Mahe, so this makes for some very impressive sunsets and adds a touch of romance to your stay. Spice up your end of year with a bit of romance!

Best for families:

Many families heading to the islands opt to hole up in a beachfront hotel with lots of facilities. And what if you added to that a secret ingredient of having all these criteria on a private island in the Maldives. Discover Lux* South Ari Atoll Maldives, the acclaimed and vibrant resort of Lux Resorts. You will never want to leave once you have landed there. Dive in.

Best for the more active travelers:

If your are one who can’t just sit on a day bed and tan during your holidays then we have found the perfect resort for you. A place for those that like to stay active on holiday - including golf, swimming, walks, sports and adventure. Discover the Heritage Awali Golf & Spa Resort in Mauritius, here you can really reconnect with the outdoors and yet make the most of the pristine beaches and lagoons the island has to offer.

Best for those seeking for sustainable luxury:

For you the end of year needs a stylish sort of celebration! Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru is a sophisticated tropical resort that leads the way in sustainable luxury living. Turtle conservation and Manta ray research programmes thrive alongside fine dining and the highest levels of service on this alluring tropical island in the Indian Ocean. Indulge in luxury with your mind at peace.
