Day 1

Upon your arrival at the airport of Mahé you will be greeted then taken by ferry boat to the island of La Digue, an hour and a half from Mahé. Disembark at La Digue, a picture-book island fringed with immaculate beaches and gigantic granite formations. The island and its village - echoes of a bygone era - have remained unaffected by a rampant tourism. Instead, La Digue has a laid-back island ambiance with its small pastel-colored huts, ox-driven carts (the local taxi) and copra exploitations. Transfer to Domaine de l'Orangeraie, which consists of exquisite villas in a light and airy decor and laid on wood planks or roughened pebbles. The soft and cosy lightings, epitomises an understated luxury. There are roads that wind around the coast along which you may ride a bicycle.

Day 2

La Digue is a delight for hikers, sun enthusiasts and foodies. Make the trek up Nid d’Aigle, the island’s peak, which affords dramatic views of the nearby islets - Marianne, Félicité, Coco, Petite Soeur, Grande Soeur and Praslin. Ride your bike uphill, then continue on foot for the last 1,5km. After the hike, take a dip in the jade green sea at Grand Anse or Petite Anse. Sample hearty regional dishes at the hotel’s restaurant, Marmit.

Day 3

Transfer by ferry boat from La Digue to Praslin, a peaceful haven. After dropping off your luggage at the Paradise Sun Hotel, a seaside hotel, head toward the island’s dense, luxuriant interior. Under the foliage of dark green leaves, you may glimpse a large brown nut: the coco de mer. La Vallée de Mai - a UNESCO World Heritage Site - is packed with coco fesse, native to Praslin. Walk through the forest shaded by coco de mer palms until you reach a viewpoint that looks out over the valley below and straight ahead at a stroke of blue sea on the horizon. Read about the precious coco de mer along the red dirt path.

Day 4

Scuba-diving is arguably the best way to discover the Seychelles. The vibrant blue waters are home to thousands of species of fish and corals. The hotel’s state-of-the art dive center caters to all your underwater needs, including thrilling night dives. Twenty or so dive sites with coral gardens swarming with exotic fish, sea turtles, rays, harmless sharks and gentle giants - whale sharks - are located steps off the beach.

Day 5

The sparsely populated island of Praslin is strewn with scenic hiking trails. Delve into the tropical nature by trekking in Plaine Hollandaise, along a path flanked by shady groves of silky pink albizzia, cocoplum and cinnamon trees. The path curves toward the cinematic coastline and ends at Anse Lazio, one of Praslin’s prized possessions: a ribbon of sand lapped by pale blue waters. Stop here for a picnic and snorkeling. The last segment takes you to Mont Plaisir, a promontory overlooking Curieuse and Aride, two islets.

Day 6

Embark on a ferry boat to Mahé before checking into the Constance Éphélia, a spectacular resort spread across two beaches. The symmetrically opposed beaches each possess their own vibe, restaurants and things to do. The resort is swallowed by the neighbouring Port Launay National Park, which makes it peaceful at any given time of day. The hotel is brimming with activities and dozens of options to choose from - we suggest canoeing along South Beach until you reach the mouth of the river. Paddle up the winding river, flanked by mangroves on both sides. At low-tide, walk out to the reef for a meditative stroll.

Day 7

To get around the resort and cruise from North to South beach you may borrow a bicycle. Up north is a sensational adrenalin-inducing zip-line course. If dangling at tree-top level isn’t your thing, try rock-climbing on the granite wall that has been set up with handles to grip onto. Once seated on the promontory overlooking North beach, at Cyann, a gastronomic restaurant by night and sushi bar by day, start with a platter of sushi, a dish that showcases the bounty of the local sea. If you’d rather leave the hotel, claim a table at La Plaine St André, where sensational flavours meet historic colonial architecture. Order the hearts of palm Millionaire salad. This is also where the famous Takamaka rum is distilled.

Day 8

Spend the morning trekking in the heart of nature (with or without a guide.) You will pass by pastel-hued Creole huts, small farms, ginger-coloured Rousette bats and flowers you have likely never seen. End your walk with a well-deserved plunge into the cool crystalline waters of Sauzier waterfall. For lunch, try the Maria’s Rock Cafe at Anse Gouvernement. The pirate’s haunt is hidden amid a dense jungle. The picturesque setting is conducive to an impromptu lunch of prawns simmered on a hot stone with garlic butter and saffron. Maria’s husband, Antonio is an artist - pop into his studio where he showcases his coral and wood sculptures.

Day 9

Crescent-shaped North Beach gives onto a sparkling lagoon, the Port Launay Marine National Park. The reserve is home to countless species of colourful fish; slip on fins and a mask and swim along the granite ridges that drop into the sea. There are two spectacular dive sites located nearby, where you may scuba dive. North beach is studded with coconut palms and chaises-longues for those who want to relax in the shade between dips in the turquoise sea.

Day 10

Before catching your flight, pop into the immense spa village, the U Spa, hidden amid wetlands. The world-class spa offers a dizzying array of treatments that will leave you feeling whole. Transfer to the airport of Mahé.
